Above is a typical wiring diagram for many older Singer sewing machines utilizing: Terminal Box #192797 and Double Lead #714179 (new design molded female plug).

This diagram should be used as a point of reference, your particular set-up may be different. If your wiring is not similar or if you have any doubt in your ability to perform electrical maintenance, please, take your machine and all it's electrical components to your nearest certified sewing machine technician. You could put yourself in danger and/or further damage your motor and other electrical components.
ALWAYS when performing electrical maintenance UNPLUG the machine from wall outlet. When testing use an outlet with a GFIC (Ground-Fault Circuit-Interrupter) and/or surge protector.
Operator Maintenance Kit
*High quality oil in refillable extendable spout. Long neck spout style of oiler #NK2 may vary depending on availability.
*Lubricant for gears
*Extra fine quality screw driver for tension adjustments
*2 strips of crocus cloth for removing burs on hook, etc.
*6" abrasive cord #52 for removing burs in and around needle plate, etc.
*Oil and lubricant instructions pamphlet for various models
